Our Christmas do was held on Saturday 1st December, and 7 of us met at the Inns of Court at 1pm for a cheeky aperitif.
We then ventured down to the Smokehouse BBQ for 2pm, where we met another 6 of our merry band, duly ordered at the bar, and were shown to our booked table.
We have been to the Smokehouse several times before and it doesn't disappoint.
Following the meal, we wobbled towards the second pub (Black Rock) with our full bellies and straining belts. Here we met another 4 Wakefield MAG members to boost our increasingly merry group at this fine licenced establishment. After several goblets of foaming ale, we returned to the Inns of Court, then made our way to stop No.4, the aptly named 'Jolly Boys' real ale venue. We also gained more Wakefield MAG members here.
After more thoroughly delicious bevereges, we visited the Calder and Hops (used to be the Gate), but it was rammed and getting served in a timely manner proved problemmatic so we ventured next door instead to the Talbot and Falcon .... which rather cringingly had a kareoke night .... aaarrrggghhhh. It was mid evening by this point so we were losing a few (to last trains (and exhaustion ;-) but the more foolish amongst us continued to yet more of the Merrie Cities fine establishments, including the Red Bar (or that pub up in't ginnel). The patio heaters were working at full blast and it was rather pleasant stood outside, drinking and smoking the now obligatory cigars.
Several were determined to make a night of it, but Steve, Justine, Lorna, Sharon & Terry decided to finish the evening with Wakefield's finest ... Steak Pie, Chips and mushy Peas at the Wakefield Pie shop .... What a fantastic way to finish a fantastic night !!!
A thoroughly enjoyable Christmas Do with the Wakefield MAG Family ... Hurrah !!!
