Event Reports

Into the Valley - Friday 3rd - Sunday 5th May 2024

The 2024 ITV was held on the first weekend in May, for the third time at the Driffield Showground. The event was pre-book only, and for the first year, the rally was sold out !!!

Plenty of camping space and gravelled roads in and around the camping areas mean that even if there had been torrential rain all weekend, it wouldn't have been a mud bath to get off the site (as previous ITV's have been). It did rain on both days but being an agricultural showground, it's well drained and mostly level (not brilliant for pitching tents though as the top soil is only a couple of inches thick before you hit lots of gravel, so tent pegs tend to only go about half way in).

The site layout was changed this year with the traders spaced further apart to give a bigger central area which housed the Saturday afternoon custom show and thus mimicking the FYP and YPR. Must say, this layout was far better then the previous two years where the custom show has been a little bit out of sight. Only two food vendors this year plus a van doing crepes. No complaints about the food quality or price though.

The main 'marquee', the Pavilion is like a wedding venue, with carpets, curtain lined walls and get this, chandeliers ... rally goers, MAG is spoiling you !!!

With the tent pitched up, it was time for food, beer and bands. Didn't really spend much time in the Main Stage (Rix Pavilion) but Billy Mac in the Members Bar Stage was awesome. Just one man and a guitar for one and a half hours. He played lots of rock tracks in his own style and really knows how to work a crowd.

Saturday soon came round and time for the custom show, with 27 bikes entered, double last years entries. As usual with MAG rally bike shows, the quality of entrants was outstanding. Back Street Heroes magazine judged the show and the show winners were:

Saturday night headlining in the Members Bar Stage was Kelly Ann Boland (who had earlier entered her 1980's Italian Police Moto Guzzi in the Custom Show).

Just like Billy Mac the night before, just the one person and a guitar but she was brilliant and kept the audience well entertained.

Check out this YouTube footage if you don't believe me: Kelly Ann Boland

And the verdict at the end of the rally ....... Cracking venue .... good quality beer ..... top quality tucker .... top entertainment ....... another absolutely cracking ITV weekend !!!!

Hope to see you at ITV 2025 !!!
