Lorna's Brave the Shave at the 2017 YPR - Saturday 5th August 2017

Wakefield MAG's very own Lorna Jaques decided to participate in the Macmillan Charity 'Brave the Shave' to raise much needed funds for this most worthy charity. The idea is that you collect sponsorship to get your head shaved, with the proceeds going to the Macmillan Nurses Cancer Charity .... and Lorna wanted the momentous occassion to happen at the 2017 Yorkshire Pudding Rally. On mentioning this to MAP's Events Manager, Pete Walker, he not only arranged for this to happen at the YPR, but also in the main marquee, just before the Comedy Show, hence guaranteeing a large audience (to witness and donate).

Fundraiser Elaine from the charity was invited onto the site to witness said event, and help raise sponsorship.

A good number of the Wakefield MAG contingent at the rally volunteered to take sponsorship buckets round the rally and into the Main Marquee, to collect sponsorship for the ritual shaving at 12:30. Lorna was joined by another 'long haired' rally goer, who was also prepared to lose his precious locks, all in a good cause.

Smarked Arse Comedy Show Compare, Rick Hulse, provided the Commentary, whilst Becky (Lorna's daughter) inflicted the head shave.

The amount collected on site was most impressive - it has to be said, bikers often get a bad press but the reality is they are the most generous 'Salt of the Earth' characters you are ever likely to meet, anywhere !!! £788.72 was collected on the day, including a hugely generous donation of £100 from East Yorkshire MAG !!! Online sponsorship amounted to £260, with a further £208 pledged with sponsorship forms, so the total was a whopping £1,256.72 - a fantastic result for a fantastic charity.

Well done Lorna, and everyone else who helped raise this most impressive amount !!!!
