Post Christmas Auction raises £200

We held our 2nd Post Christmas Auction on Wednesday 26th Jan and enjoyed a large turnout of Wakefield branch members. We were also pleased to welcome along a large contingent from Leeds & York MAG branches.

A huge amount of stuff was donated to the auction and we had a cracking laugh auctioning it all off. Amazingly, we sold the lot and raised £200 (we thought we had done well last year when we raised £135, which we donated to the MAG Foundation).

This year we have split the proceeds between three worthy causes: £50 for Leeds MAG member Michael Guy for his forthcoming Enduro India Charity trip; £75 for the Wakefield Hospice & £75 for the MAG Foundation.

Press Release to Wakefield Express:

Generous Wakefield Motorcycle Action Group members raised £200 for charitable causes from their 2nd Post Christmas Auction, held on Wednesday 26th January.

The idea behind the auction was to raffle off everyone's unwanted Christmas presents and other surplus items, with all proceeds being donated to charity. A large amount of items were donated to the auction and a strong turnout from Wakefield MAG, together with motorcyclists from other Yorkshire groups, ensured lots of bidding activity.

The evening was a great success and the funds raised wildly exceeded all expectations, particularly as the bidding on most items started at 50p. Wakefield MAG members voted to donate the funds raised to the Wakefield Hospice, together with other motorcycle related charities. The Group plan to host other fund-raising events and activities to support Wakefield Hospice during 2005.

Wakefield MAG meet in the Grey Horse, Kirkgate, Wakefield every Wednesday from 9:00pm and new members are always welcome.
