2) For Sale

Anyone interested in any of the items should contact Bob on 0770 247 5559.

Disclaimer: Wakefield MAG accept no responsibility for any of the items for sale on this page, nor for the accuracy of the adverts placed.

See also our For Sale Page.

3) Raise Funds for MAG (the easy way)

You may or may not be aware that MAG has a Credit Card deal with MBNA. The MAG branded card, issued by MBNA Limited, is dedicated to those who have the heart and soul for biking. If you apply for a MAG MBNA credit card, and make just one purchase on the card, MAG receives £30 in commission. You could apply, use it just the once to fill your bike with petrol, and earn MAG vital fighting funds, for very little effort. For further details and to apply please call MBNA on 0800 028 2440 and quote 'Motorcycle Action Group'.

Whilst on the subject of fund raising, you may recall we had a few unsold items left over from our Post Christmas Auction at the start of the year - we were selling these seperately and we are delighted to report that the tent has just sold for £70 and some of the helmets for £20 - a great result and all the more towards our 2016 fund raising target of £2,000 !!!

4) Rally in a Chalet

A few of us are planning to attend a 'Rally in a Chalet', at Pontins in Southport in October (13th-16th) - Halloween Rock Weekend, hosted by Southport Original Cruisers. Ten bands are on over the weekend, plus Hells Bells Rock Disco and trade stalls. The weekend costs £15 p.p. plus £28 p.p. for the chalet (so no roughing it in a tent in the cold and wet if it's raining all weekend !!!). Proceeds go to the North West air Ambulance.

Event details are here: www.facebook.com/events/1529156817378197

Let us know if you fancy joining us so we know how many chalet places to book.

5) Evening Visit to Sheffield Speedway

Our evening Rideout for June is on Thursday 23rd June, to the speedway racing at Owlerton Stadium in Sheffield, home of the Sheffield Tigers Speedway Team. It is a good number of years since we last visited the speedway as a group, so we are well overdue. Entrance costs £15 and we will be leaving at 18:15 prompt from Redbeck Cafe, 339 Doncaster Road, Crofton, Wakefield, WF4 1RT. The racing starts at 19:30.

As it's the destination we are most interested in on this occassion, rather than the journey, feel free to come in the car if the weather is less than favourable ;-)

Check the Sheffield Speedway website for further details: www.sheffieldspeedway.co

6) Ride to Work Week 2016

Ride to Work Week 2016 is being held between Monday 20th and Sunday 26th June. The campaign aims to raise the profile of commuting by motorcycle or scooter and to highlight the main benefits, which include:

Special content will be shared during the week via social media, using the hashtag #commutehappy. Riders can share their own pictures and Ride to Work Week content via the Facebook page and Twitter in order to show the rest of the UK why their mode of transport is so enjoyable. Events will be held across the UK for the public and for employees at motorcycle friendly businesses. These range from 'bikers breakfasts' to VIP parking and free CBTs for non-riding staff.

7) June Rideout

Our June Rideout will be held on Sunday 26th June, and we are heading to a vintage and classic motorcycle show being held at the British Commercial Vehicle Museum at Leyland, Lancashire (so don't forget your passport !!!). As per usual, a cracking scenic learner friendly route and 10,000 acres of clear blue sky is guaranteed (well, we can't guarantee the last bit ... but we can live in hope !!!).

Meet 8:30am (leaving at 09:00am) at Redbeck Cafe, 339 Doncaster Road, Crofton, Wakefield, WF4 1RT.

8) Injunction against Motorcyclists !!!

You may have been following the news about the recent injunction against motorcyclists, raised by Harlow Council - www.harlow.gov.uk/pr16-24. MAG was quick to raise concerns and objections to this injunction, amid fears it was a 'sledgehammer to crack a nut' and would impact decent law abinding motorcyclists, enjoying group rideouts and simply going about their business.

MAG has received clarification and reassurances from the Council that it will not affect law abiding riders and will not impact legitimate rideouts and visits to the area etc - See MAG Press Release: www.mag-uk.org/en/newsdetail/a7239.

MAG's stance however is that such moves are wholly unnecessary as existing laws of the land cover anti-social behaviour and are perfectly adequate if they are simply enforced. We saw a similar injunction near the Ace Cafe in London last year, where a section of road was temporarily banned for motorcycles to use, due to the anti-social actions of a very small minority (another classic case of a 'sledgehammer to crack a nut'). MAG successfully campaigned for this restriction to be removed.

Follow the latest news on the Harlow injunction on the MAG website: www.mag-uk.org. And if you are reading this and you are not a MAG member, now would be a good time to join to help protect your freedom to ride your bike !!!

9) Rally Tickets For Sale

Britain's biggest and best biker only rally, the Farmyard Party, is very near. If you haven't yet got your ticket(s), we still have these for sale at the weekly branch meetings (together with Yorkshire Pudding Rally Tickets). Remember, if you buy them from us, you will save yourself the booking fee and postage.

The dates (and prices) of the FYP and YPR events for 2016 are:

Due to popular demand, you can also purchase Saturday tickets (with Saturday evening camping) if you can't make the Friday, but are put off by the full weekend ticket price for only one night. These are pre-book only and cost:

N.B. Child tickets (under 16) are FREE when bought with a paying adult ticket.

Ticket prices have remained static now for the last five years !!!

2016 also marks the 30th anniversary of the Farmyard Party. That's 30 rallies with No Cars, No Vans, and No pedestrians! Yes - the Farmyard Party is not going 'Old School' or 'Back to a Biker Rally' because it never left! From Day One of the Farmyard you have been able to indulge yourselves in having your own personal campfire around your tent for you and your mates (a very rare occurance at a big well organised rally these days). Back Street Heroes are not only sponsoring the FYP ride-in bike show for the umpteenth year running, but they are also bringing a round of their own special 2016 British Custom Bike Building Championship to the Farmyard, so you can expect a very special custom show this year.

Be sure to buy your YPR tickets early, as this rally sells out every year well ahead of the event, and it's Pre-Book only i.e. no 'On the Gate' sales. If you want some YPR rally tickets reserving, do let me know.
