6) FYP Marshal Registration now open

The registration form to marshal at FYP 2022 is now open until Friday the 3rd of June at 1pm. Don't forget to put your t-shirt size on the form if you are doing 2 or more shifts for us as we order these in specifically for yourselves and will be available to pick up from Marshal Admin on site after you have completed your shifts for us.

The website address to access the forms is www.magmarshals.co.uk. If you know anyone who would like to come along for the first time, please also ask them to Register as a Marshal first, this form only needs doing once to get them on the system, then they can just fill in the Marshal at an Event for whichever rally they are interested in coming to.

You can access your form at any time during the registration process to amend any details if you wish to do so, you will receive an email every time you go into your form to update it. If for any reason you do not receive the email, please do not hesitate to get in touch with Carol or Jayne at marshals@mapevents.co.uk and we can let you know if we have received your form , or for any other queries you may have.

If you do need a car pass, please email pwalker@mapevents.co.uk. These are emailed out in the week before build-up, so you only need to send an email to Pete once to receive one.

If you do apply to be on the build-up crew, then it is Pete's decision as to who he wants. You will be emailed separately when we do the rota after registration has closed if you have been asked to come for this. If you are not successful, then you are welcome on site anytime from Thursday morning onwards to set up your tent etc and to be available for the marshal meeting on the evening.

We do have limited shifts available on the Thursday at FYP, and anyone coming for these or for the marshal briefing on Thursday night will be given a token to get a free meal on the Thursday evening.

Massive Thanks to everyone who has volunteered already and to those who are marshallling at ITV, we hope our new site at Driffield Showground is going to be a huge success. Without you all volunteering and giving up your valuable time, we could not put on these events!

We all look forward to seeing those of you coming to ITV and all our other events in a field soon.

Carol and Jayne,
Marshal Co-Ordinators.

7) Easter Egg Collection Report (in aid of Wakefield based Charity Kidzaware)

8) FEMA Survey

A Motorcycle Parking Survey hosted by FEMA you may wish to partake in: www.femamotorcycling.eu/survey-motorcycle-parking

The survey will close on Sunday 8th May 2022.

9) MAG leaves PACTS

The Motorcycle Action Group (MAG), the UK's leading voice for riders, is not renewing its membership of the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety (PACTS) this year.

Explaining why, Colin Brown, MAG's Director of Campaigns & Political Engagement, stated: "Sadly, MAG finds itself no longer aligned with the PACTS agenda. The Council has proved increasingly difficult to engage and debate with, and we find ourselves in a position where our voice is no longer heard because there is little appetite for listening to a variety of views and ideas. We have always endeavoured to put forward the case for motorcycling but have been met with increasing levels of hostility towards this transport mode. There comes a point where one must bow out, and we have reached it."

MAG's Chair, Neil Liversidge, commented: "MAG is always happy to engage with other organisations and authorities regarding motorcycling, but we see no point in wasting our valuable resources where our voice is consistently ignored. We have therefore decided that withdrawing from PACTS is the best decision. Personally, I find the inclusion of the word 'Parliamentary' in the Council's name somewhat misleading, as it implies that it is a Parliamentary body, but this is not the case."

MAG will continue to robustly defend the rights of motorcyclists, engaging, lobbying and educating wherever a need is identified.

10) South Yorkshire and Huddersfield MAG present the Market Top Box Sale - Saturday 23rd July

MAP Rallies 2022

South Yorkshire MAG are pleased to announce they will be hosting the renowned Huddersfield MAG Top Box sale at the market on Saturday 23rd of July. In addition there will be burgers and hot dogs available, plus Claire Mercer from the Smart Motorways Kill campaign will be in attendance promoting the campaign and raising funds so please donate generously to this worthwhile and potentially life saving cause.
