Welcome to the Wakefield MAG e-newsletter. If you can't attend our Wednesday meetings regularly, it's the next best thing to keep you up to date with what we are up to.

The Yorkshire Region MAG Annual General Meeting was held on Saturday 22nd October at Barnsley Rugby and Football Club (where Barnsley MAG meet), Shaw Lane, Barnsley. Steve, Justine, Daz, Jagster & Eddie were in attendance, each earning 75 branch points (which go towards our own AGM branch heroes presentation, this coming January).
The Yorkshire MAG Committee elections were held, and exactly the same committee was elected, all unopposed, as have served the region admirably in 2010, which bodes very well in terms of continuity.
We gave a comprehensive report of our activities this year, and we have certainly been very busy !!! We made a sizeable donation of £500 to the MAG fighting fund at the meeting, which takes our overall fund raising total for 2011 to £1,140, which is a fantastic result. This is slightly down on our record breaking fund raising last year, but still very respectable indeed, and we are consistently amongst the top donators within the region. A big thank you to all the Wakefield members who have been involved in our fund raising activities over the year, as it is your efforts that have contributed to that amount. Well done.
After a debate about the membership database improvements planned, the meeting was adjourned at 4pm. Our next formal meeting will be our own AGM, on Wednesday 11th January 2012 (See Below).
We are now taking £5 deposits for our Christmas Do, which is being held on Saturday 3rd of December, at the Chinese Buffet in Trinity Walk. We will meet for the 'All You Can Eat' buffet, at 13:00, then, following the buffet, we are going to do the 'world famous' Westgate Walk pub crawl, in the afternoon, starting in town at the Strafford Arms, and working our way down Westgate. This gives lots of options for just coming for the meal, joining us at one of the many Westgate Walk pubs, or both !!!!
The lunchtime buffet costs £6.95, so after deducting your fiver deposit, that only leaves £1.95 to pay on the day (plus bar bill of course). Deposits required as soon as possible please so we can firm up the provisional booking made at the restaurant. So far, nearly twenty of us have signed up for the meal, and it already promises to be a most memorable occasion.

Our much anticipated and hotly contested annual biker quiz nite is at 8:00pm on Wednesday 23rd November 2011 at the Grey Horse, Kirkgate, Wakefield. Continuing last years popular revised format, there will be 60 questions, 30 of which will be motorcycle related and 30 will be general knowledge (but there will be a bike related link / theme somewhere, however tenuous).
Will Wakefield MAG win back the trophy from Sheffield & Rotherham MAG, last years winners (on the sudden death tie break question !!!). Can Leeds MAG win back the trophy which was theirs for five years on the trot ? Come along and find out !!!!!
£1 entry fee p.p. Team (Max. 5) or individual entry. Great prizes for the winners (1st, 2nd & 3rd), plus booby prize for the least number of correct answers and a FREE buffet at half time !!!!
Already we have teams pledged from most of Yorkshire MAG. Spread the word and let's pack the place to the rafters !!! All proceeds to the MAG Fighting Fund. Hope to see you there.
4) Wakefield MAG at the City of Wakefield Memorial Sunday Parade & Service
As we have for several years running now, we will be attending the City of Wakefield Memorial Sunday Parade & Service at the Wood Street War Memorial, to pay our respects. We already have our wreath, ordered from the Royal British Legion, to place with the many others at the war memorial, on the day. Meet from 10:30 onwards by the Queen Victoria statue, opposite Wood Street War Memorial. Weather dependant, we may have a short rideout afterwards.
5) Yorkshire Warriors Final Donation
We have just made another donation to the Yorkshire Warriors Charity (Yorkshire Regiment Charitable Trust), following collection of more outstanding sponsorship monies from our sponsored rideout back in July. This now takes our fund raising efforts to date to £1950 with a small amount still to be collected from Sue's work colleagues. We set out with a target to raise £1,000 if we could, so we can safely say we have achieved that in spades, and then some !!! Well done to everyone involved, a fantastic result for a most deserving charity.
A few members are planning a visit to this years Motorcycle Show at the NEC, Birmingham on Monday 21st November. If you are planning to attend and can go midweek, car share places will be available, splitting the petrol costs and car parking, which obviously makes the event a lot cheaper to attend. Sunday 6th November - MAP Meeting
The next MAP meeting will be held at the Breighton Ferry Pub, Breighton, Nr Selby, North Yorks, YO86DH, starting at 13:00 prompt. Magic Action Promotions (MAP), is the events arm of Yorkshire MAG, which hosts the ITV, FYP & YPR bike rallies, which contribute so enormously to the MAG fighting fund. Every MAG member is more than welcome to attend the meeting and see how the MAP events are run, its more the merrier and MAP welcome you taking more of an interest or active role.

7:30pm for a prompt 8:00pm start at the Grey Horse, Kirkgate, Wakefield. All members are invited to attend this special meeting, so please try to attend if you can. At this meeting there will be a review of the year, elections for the branch committee and the prize giving for our branch heroes.
Saturday 14th January 2012 - Wakefield MAG 10th Birthday Party
Help us celebrate the most momentous occasion of our 10th Birthday. Rock Disco, Karaoke (for those brave / drunk enough), Buffet, Good Company and lashings of Ginger Beer !!! 19:30 onwards at the Grey Horse, Kirkgate, Wakefield. FREE entry to all Wakefield MAG members and friends !!!!!
Wednesday 25th January 2012 - Wakefield MAG 8th Post Christmas Auction
Our 8th Post Christmas Auction will be held on Wednesday 25th January 2012, at 20:00, at the Grey Horse, Kirkgate, and if previous years events are anything to go by, an event not to be missed. The idea is that you bring along all your unwanted Christmas presents, together with other stuff you no longer want, or have the room for, donate them to the branch, and we auction them off to the highest bidder. Proceeds: 2/3 to MAG and 1/3 to Charitable Causes.
