9) October Rideout

The October Rideout is on Sunday 8th October.

The rideout destination is still TBD but it will be a learner friendly route, spectacular scenery guaranteed, as is 10,000 acres of clear blue sky (honest !!!) and all are welcome.

Meet 8:30am (leaving at 09:00am) at Redbeck Cafe, 339 Doncaster Road, Crofton, Wakefield, WF4 1RT. Hope to see you there.

10) 2018 Rally Dates

As some of you will need to book holiday, or whatever it is you need to do to make time for the best bike only rallies in the UK, here are the dates of the main Yorkshire MAG events for 2018:

As per previous years, we will be getting our branch ticket allocation for sale at our meetings around February / March time. Remember, sale or return tickets are now on offer to MAG branches nationally, not just those in Yorkshire. This means that the Yorkshire Pudding Rally will sell out even quicker than in other years. We say it every year, but, if you want tickets to this most excellent rally, get them sooner rather than later as they WILL sell out !!!

We'll let you know when we get our tickets, and in the meantime, make a note of the above dates in your 'motorcycle' diaries.

11) Bingo Night

Oct 2017 Bingo Night

Eyes Down for another Fun Filled Night of Bingo !!! Cash and Prize Bingo, and lot's of hilarity guaranteed. All profits to the MAG Fighting Fund. This will be our 6th Bingo Night, and if the previous three are anything to go by, a cracking night is in store. The excitement starts at 20:00 at the Grey Horse, Kirkgate, Wakefield, on Wednesday 25th October.

Hope to see you there.

12) Cath's Leaving Do

Wakefield MAG member Cathy Parker, is retiring to sunny Spain at the back end of October. As a fitting 'send-off', we are having a Leaving Do for her on Wednesday 18th October, at the Rice n Spice (formerly Raj Poot's), 134 Kirkgate, Wakefield, West Yorkshire, WF1 1TS. We will need to book well in advance as there will be a few of us attending, so let us know if you plan to attend, and we will add you to the booking.

N.B. There will be no meeting at the Grey Horse on Wednesday 18th October (for obvious reasons .... we'll be in the curry house instead).

13) Wakefield MAG 14th Annual Bikers Quiz Nite

Bingo flyer

The legendary and hugely popular Wakefield MAG Bikers Quiz Nite is coming up very soon !!!

The quiz will be held at 8:00pm on Wednesday 15th November 2017 at the Grey Horse, Kirkgate, Wakefield, WF1 4EJ. We wont mess with a winning formula so it's the same tried and tested 60 questions, 30 of which will be motorcycle related and 30 will be general knowledge (but there will be a bike related link / theme somewhere, however tenuous). The quiz is hotly contested throughout Yorkshire and the prestigious roll of honour is:

Who will win in 2017 ? .... Leeds Again Probably !

Open to All. £1 entry fee p.p. Team (Max. 5) or individual entry. Great prizes for the winners (1st, 2nd & 3rd), plus booby prize for the least number of correct answers.

And just for a change ....... All proceeds to the MAG Fighting Fund ;-)

14) Wakefield MAG Members Business Plug

We have two new Wakefield MAG members to welcome on board - Jon Spencer and James Dewart, both of whom run motorcycle businesses in Wakefield. As is our long standing tradition, we actively promote our members businesses to other members, so here goes:

Jon Spencer runs a bike showroom, workshop, and rent-a-bench service in Ossett called Not Your Average Bikes.

Not Your Average Bikes does as the name says - not your average bikes. We stock custom, classic, retro, and simply unusual bikes. Be it a chopper, bobber, cafe racer, street tracker, 90's sports bike, a turbo bike, or a true classic, you will find it here at Not Your Average Bikes. We stock the bikes that your average local dealer wouldn't.

Uniqueness and customer satisfaction are Not Your Average Bikes major objectives. All bikes sold are thoroughly gone through in our workshop and any issues found are rectified regardless of margins and profits. We want you to get a bike that is right, and a bike and service which we ourselves would want to receive when purchasing a new bike.

Along with bikes sales, Not Your Average Bikes also incorporates JD Motorcycles who can carry out any bike service and repair works you may require over the course of ownership of your bike, whether you bought it from us or not. Within the workshop, we also incorporate a Rent-A-Bench scheme, something unique to the area.

Now that the rent-a-bench workshop is up and running, we are offering motorcycle maintenance classes through the winter:

Tea, Coffee and Buscuits included on all courses.

More info on their website: www.notyouraveragebikes.com

James Dewart runs JD Motorcycles who provide servicing and repairs and operate out of the same premises (a one stop shop !!!) - Unit 4, RCM Business Centre, Ossett, Wakefield, West Yorkshire, WF5 9ND. Phone: 0755 266 6368 Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/JDMwakefield

Please support these local traders (and MAG Members).

Sunday 12th November - Remembrance Sunday

Wakefield MAG will be attending en-masse the City of Wakefield Remembrance Sunday Memorial Service on Sunday 12th November. We have attended this service for more years now than we care to remember, to honour the fallen from our own area, in our own area. We will again be laying a Wakefield MAG wreath at the war memorial, that we have already purchased from the Royal British Legion. Following the Wakefield Service, we will be attending (at the invitation of the RBLR), the parade and service in nearby Mirfield - The role of the motorcyclists, is to lead the procession through Mirfield, with the marching bands, service personnel, cadets, veterans, and everyone else following on behind. The remembrance parade culminates in an afternoon service at Mirfield War Memorial. The Mirfield parade usually gets covered in the BBC Look North News that evening.
We will remember them
Meet 10:50 (or earlier) at the Wood Street War Memorial in Wakefield for the City of Wakefield Remembrance Sunday Memorial Service. We will then be riding over to the Old Colonial pub in Mirfield, to meet up at 13:00ish with the Royal British Legion Riders (RBLR). We will be leaving the pub at 13:30 for a ride to the Mirfield parade which starts at 14:00, followed by the service at Mirfield War Memorial. As a thank you for attending, food is laid on afterwards at the Old Colonial by landlord Tim. Hope you can attend both and let's have a big turnout of bikes to honour the fallen from all armed conflicts, and to show our respect.
