Wakefield MAG Curry Night / Alex Reunion - Wednesday 1st June 2022

We held a social curry night on Wednesday 1st June by way of a reunion for Alex Cottrell, who was a Wakefield MAG meeting and rideout regular until he went to live in France a few years back - he was back in the UK for a week or so and deprived of a curry social for a good while, well, it would have been rude not to.

The last time Alex was in the UK we all went to the Rice and Spice (which used to be the Raj Poot) so we decided to frequent that establishment again. However, upon trying to book it transpires it's had another change of hands so decided to try somewhere else, Syhiba, just round the corner on George Street, and which had lots of recommendations.

Fourteen of us gathered at the curry house at 7:30, ready to get our order in to qualify for the early bird special (popadums and pickle tray, any starter, any main, any sundry, all for £14.95, so long as it was ordered before 8pm - you can tell we are all from Yorkshire can't you !!!)

The restaurant was packed and it took ages to order, and then to get through the courses.

Not that it mattered in the brilliant company of our Wakefield MAG family, lot's of laughs, merciless p1ss taking, banter, talking b0ll0cks, curry and beer .... does life get any better than this ;-)

We finally got out after 3 hours plus, with some of our contingent heading to Fernandes for more beer, whilst others had to get home. A brilliant evening and one that we need to replicate very soon.

Great to see Alex again - Being a member of Wakefield MAG is just like Hotel California: You can check out but you can never leave ;-)
