10th Yorkshire Pudding Rally - Fri 2nd - Sun 4th August 2013

Well ... Friday 2nd August brought us dry and sunny weather ready for the start of MAG's annual Yorkshire Pudding Rally affectionately know as the 'Yorkie Pud'.

The event was held at a brand new site this year at the Escrick Park Estate, just off the A19 between Selby and York and what a site! First impressions were very good, easy access with tarmac and gravel roads leading to the main camping area. A large spread out field with plenty of tents already erected by the time we arrived at approx 1pm.

After selecting our pitch and sorting the tent etc we had a walk around to familiarise ourselves with the site and buy some beer of course from the MAG beer truck.

The food and merchandise area was well laid out with plenty of space for eating or just milling around, the main marquee was up and ready to rock with the beer tent at the back as usual and toilet facilities were numerous and situated evenly across the entire site.

Having a chat and a laugh with friends old and new

After several beers and having a chat and a laugh with friends old and new, the weather decided to remind us of why the grass grows so green in Yorkshire as the heavens opened and we all took shelter in our tents for 30mins of torrential rain, thunder and lightening. Storm passed and time to head for the marquee for more beer and to listen to the excellent bands for the rest of the evening with the superb 'Big Day' headlining.

Saturday brought fine weather all day (yet another downpour during the night) and after chilling out all morning it was time to go and watch the comedy show. All the comedians were brilliant with the only complaint of the weekend being quite a few groups of people chatting at the back of the tent when others were trying to hear the acts. On at the same time was the ever popular ride-in custom show.

More great bands on Saturday night made sure the marquee was rocking till late with the excellent 'Gun Law' rounding up the evenings entertainment.

Sunday morning arrived all too soon and the packing up started with people drifting away from the site throughout the morning.

All in all a fantastic weekend:

Last but not least a massive THANK YOU to the organisers, the marshals, everyone involved and of course the punters, because without any of these it just wouldn't have happened.

Happy Rally Goers

See you next year ....
