Three Wakefield MAG members attended the VJMC Lotherton Hall Japanese Bike Show Presentation Evening on Tuesday 8th October 2013, at Lofthouse Gate WMC, Canal Lane Lofthouse. The purpose of the Presentation evening is for the VJMC West Yorkshire Branch to formally present their supported charities with cheques from the proceeds of the annual Japanese Bike Show, held earlier in the year in late July (see Event Report).
This years VJMC Show raised £7,400 for their 3 chosen charities:
with each charity receiving a cheque for £2,270. The remaining £600 was donated to the Scouts, who have helped run the show for the past 16 years.
Wakefield MAG also received a special thanks, for helping to marshal the show for the past 5 years. Our marshalling services weren't actually required this year as the VJMC nationally provided marshals, however, we were very much on stand-by in case the promised help didn't materialise in the numbers promised on the day. For anyone who has ever organised such an event, knowing you have a ready supply of backup marshals on call, avoids many sleepless nights running up to the event.
Following the cheque presentations, and speeches, the buffet which was laid on for the evening, was enjoyed by all the attendees.
A big thanks to the VJMC for inviting us along. Wakefield MAG also wish to thank Matt & Pat, who after 18 memorable years of organising what must be one of the best bike shows in the North, are standing down as organisers and handing the reins over to other VJMC members (who now have an incredibly tough act to follow !!!!). Remember guys, we are always ready to help out a good cause if you need us.
