Lincs MAG Teddy Bears Picnic Rideout - Sunday 14th August 2011

Fourteen of us on eleven bikes and one trike met at the Grey Horse on Sunday 14th August, for our planned rideout to MAG Lincolnshire's teddy bears picnic, at Barton on Humber.

the obligatory team photo

Following the obligatory team photo, we set off just after 10:00, leaving Wakefield along Doncaster road, towards Pontefract, then staying on the A645, through Knottingley, and towards Snaith & Goole. Bypassing Goole via Airmyn village, we picked up the road to Howden, then taking the B1230 towards North Cave, and then onto the A63, towards Humber Bridge. We paid the exorbitant £1.20 motorcycle toll to cross the bridge, and arrived at the South Shore Humber Bridge viewing area for around 11:40. Justine wasn't at all happy that we had all set off across the bridge without waiting for her to put her gloves on .... Cue major telling off for Steve !!!!

There were no other bikers around in the car park as we were a little early, but that didn't stop several of our contingent eagerly tucking into their picnics. Some had really gone to town and Mark pulled out a very posh picnic set from his top box. Teddy bears had also been brought in abundance.

Picnicing in Lincs

A few disappeared to the local pub for Sunday lunch, whilst others decided they were far too close to the seaside and the call of fish & chips was far too great, so off to Cleethorpes they went.

The rest of us waited for the Lincolnshire MAG guys to arrive, which they did from around 12:15 onwards. How we all laughed when they recounted the tale of taking the wrong turning, getting stuck on the A15 Humber Bridge road, having to cross the bridge to the Yorkshire side, pay the toll, promptly turn around at the first roundabout, pay the toll again, then re-cross the Humber, to the side they came from originally !!!!!

Humber Bridge

Mark's nose was out of joint when the even posher wicker picnic baskets came out !!! Mind you, you can carry an awful lot of a motorbike & sidecar combination !!!

We stayed on for a while, and then around 14:00, retraced our steps back to Wakefield. The weather had stayed dry all day (despite some ominous looking clouds).

A Grand Day Out Grommet !!!!!

Not quite a Teddy Bear, but a Grand Day Out Grommet
