1) Biker Quiz Nite

Quiz flyer

The legendary and hugely popular Wakefield MAG Bikers Quiz Nite is this month !!!

The quiz will be held at 8:00pm on Wednesday 27th November 2019 at the Grey Horse, Kirkgate, Wakefield, WF1 4EJ. We wont mess with a winning formula so it's the same tried and tested 60 questions, 30 of which will be motorcycle related and 30 will be general knowledge (but there will be a bike related link / theme somewhere, however tenuous). The quiz is hotly contested throughout Yorkshire and the prestigious roll of honour is:

Who will win in 2019 ? .... Leeds Again Probably !

Open to All. £1 entry fee p.p. Team (Max. 5) or individual entry. Great prizes for the winners (1st, 2nd & 3rd), plus booby prize for the least number of correct answers.

And just for a change ....... All proceeds to the MAG Fighting Fund ;-)

2) Remembrance Sunday

Wakefield MAG will be attending en-masse the City of Wakefield Remembrance Sunday Memorial Service on Sunday 10th November. We have attended this service for more years now than we care to remember, to honour the fallen from our own area, in our own area. We will again be laying a Wakefield MAG wreath at the war memorial, that we have already purchased from the Royal British Legion. Following the Wakefield Service, we will be attending (at the invitation of the Royal British Legion Riders), the parade and service in nearby Mirfield, which is also supported by members of Huddersfield MAG - The role of the motorcyclists, is to lead the procession through Mirfield, with the marching bands, service personnel, cadets, veterans, and everyone else following on behind. The remembrance parade culminates in an afternoon service at Mirfield War Memorial. The Mirfield parade is billed as the largest outside London and usually gets covered in the BBC Look North News that evening.

We will remember them

Meet 10:45 (or earlier) at the Wood Street War Memorial in Wakefield for the City of Wakefield Remembrance Sunday Memorial Service. We will then be riding over to the Old Colonial pub in Mirfield, to meet up at 13:00ish with the Royal British Legion Riders (RBLR). We will be leaving the pub at 13:15ish for a ride to the Mirfield parade start point, ready for the 'off' at 14:00, followed then by the service at Mirfield War Memorial. As a thank you for attending, food is laid on afterwards at the Old Colonial by landlord Tim.

3) NEC Show Visit

The annual NEC Motorcycle Show (or Motorcycle Live to give it it's proper title) is rapidly approaching and the show dates are Saturday 16th - Sunday 24th November 2019. This is the UK's Largest Motorcycle Show, and the showpiece for the major manufacturers to show off their new models and products. MAG will be there, and their stand will be in Hall 4, Stand 4E01. Ticket prices are £19.50 in advance or £25.00 on the day.

Wakefield MAG are organising a trip this year (to attend on Saturday 23rd November) as we haven't been as a group for five years and so far we have a car full. If you are thinking of going, why not come with us (on Saturday 23rd November), and you will get there far cheaper than if you went under your own steam. Let us know asap, as we can include you in the travel arrangements (plus pre-book your ticket for you and hence save money on the 'on the gate' price).

More info at the Show website: www.motorcyclelive.co.uk

4) Christmas Do

Our Christmas do will be held on Saturday 7th December, starting at the Smokehouse Real BBQ, Wood Street, Wakefield. The meal will be at 13:00, and suitably fed, we will venture on to many of the Merrie Cities fine hostelries for multiple goblets of foaming ale. You can come for the meal, or meet us at one of the many pubs in town, or do both ... the choice is yours. Wakefield MAG Christmas Do's are always highly memorable, and if last years Christmas do is any indication, we are in for a jolly good time .... Check out the event report(s) if you don't believe me !!!

A five pound deposit is due now, so if you are planning to attend, see Lorna at the Wednesday meetings or contact us via the branch e-mail account wakefield-rep@mag-uk.org

Christmas hats and reindeer antlers strictly optional. Hope to see you there.

5) Stolen Bikes

Please keep an eye out for these two bikes.

Wakefield MAG member Terry Scott had his bikes stolen whilst he was attending the Wakefield MAG Bingo night on Wadnesday 30th October 2019. The bikes were stolen from the Ryhill area of Wakefield, from a locked garage between 7.30pm and 10.30pm. Bikes are a Yellow Suzuki TS125 (Q415GRJ) and a Blue Suzuki DL1000 (DG53ENJ).

Please make these bikes too hot to handle. Through the MAG Member Theft Reward Scheme, there is a £10,000 reward for information leading to the prosecution of the thieves. Don't be shy cos these scumbags would have your bike away without a second thought.

Any information, please contact the police.

6) Yorkshire MAG Mugs

Yorkshire MAG Mugs

Look at these mighty fine beverage vessels ..... We have a stock of these for sale at the branch meetings and they are a snip at £5, with the profits going into the MAG coffers. Comment if you want one (or more, hell, why not have a set to go with your dinner service), and I'll bring them down to the Wednesday meetings. They would also make jolly nice stocking fillers for Christmas ... Just saying ;-)

7) Wakefield MAG Christmas Raffle

Wakefield MAG Christmas Raffle

We are hosting a Christmas Raffle for 2019 with the chance to win a luxury hamper plus other prizes. The tickets are now available for sale for £1 each (although Chas prefers to sell a book at a time for £5 ;-) and will be drawn at the Wakefield MAG meeting on Wednesday 11th December at 20:30. All proceeds to the MAG Fighting Fund for the on-going protection of your freedom to ride your motorcycle. Please buy some and let's boost the MAG coffers. Take some books and sell them to your friends and family !!

8) Christmas Shopping can benefit the MAG Foundation

If you plan to do some or all of your Christmas shopping on Amazon this year, why not use the smile.amazon.co.uk site. AmazonSmile is the same Amazon you know. Same products, same prices, same service. However, for all purchases made on AmazonSmile, Amazon donates 0.5% of the net purchase price (excluding VAT, returns and shipping fees) of eligible purchases to the charitable organisation of your choice (and the MAG Foundation can be your chosen charity). So, support the MAG Foundation by doing your Christmas shopping at smile.amazon.co.uk this year.
