3) Yorkshire MAG / MAP AGM

The annual Magic Action Promotions (MAP - Those lovely people who lay on the ITV, FYP & YPR) debrief and AGM will be held at the White Horse Pub in Hutton Cranswick Nr Driffield on Saturday the 17th of October starting at 1.30PM. Voting at the MAP AGM and to stand for any of the Directors positions is subject to eligibility (Current Yorkshire MAG Member, attended previous MAP meetings and have marshalled at MAP events over a qualifying period).

On Sunday, the Yorkshire MAG AGM will be held at the same place.

Beer and entertainment will be available on the Saturday evening for those who wish to stay on, and the White Horse landlord is sorting out a curry selection for the evening meal on Saturday night at a very resonable £6.50 per person.

The Yorkshire Region AGM on the Sunday is open to all, although you will need to be a current Yorkshire MAG member to have voting rights. The AGM is your opportunity to hear about all the regions great achievements, as well as have a say in how the region is run. It's also the opportunity to vote for the forthcoming years regional officers:

All the Region Committee positions are up for re-election (or election for those standing down this time round). If anyone wants to step forward and get involved at the Yorkshire Region level, this is the best time to do it !!!

Tea, coffee and biccies will be provided at the AGM and Snacks will be available at the bar.

The White Horse can be found on Main St, Hutton Cranswick, Driffield, East Riding of Yorkshire YO25 9QN. Website: http://www.whitehorse.me.uk/

75 Branch Points to all Wakefield MAG members who attend either of the AGM's, 150 if you attend both. Points means prizes !!!

4) Bikes in Bus Lanes Petition

A petition has been raised on the No.10 website calling for bikes to be allowed in bus lanes across the country. Locally we are making good in-roads within West Yorkshire into getting bikes allowed into bus lanes, but this all helps the cause. The petition can be found here: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/109403

5) Christmas Do

I know it has only just turned October, but you need to plan ahead for Group Bookings for Christmas !!!

We are having a slight change of plan for our Wakefield MAG Christmas Do this year. Our Christmas do will be held on Saturday 5th December, starting at the Smokehouse Real BBQ, Wood Street, Wakefield. We have made a provisional booking for 15, but we can always add more numbers. The meal will be at 13:00, and suitably fed, we will venture on to many of the Merrie Cities fine hostelries for multiple goblets of foaming ale. You can come for the meal, or meet us at one of the many pubs in town, or do both ... the choice is yours. Wakefield MAG Christmas Do's are always highly memorable, and if last years Christmas do is any indication, we are in for a jolly good time .... Check out the event report(s) if you don't believe me !!!

If you want a reservation making for the meal, let us know (we'll be collecting deposits shortly).

Christmas hats and reindeer antlers strictly optional. Hope to see you there.

6) Request to respond to Armadillo/Orca Story

Newcastle cycle lane measures 'could be fatal', says North East Motorcycle Action Group.

You'll recall us (NE MAG) raising concerns about the cycle lane segregation scheme in Newcastle where large moulds of plastic (armadillos/orcas) have been bolted to the road surface in an attempt to protect cyclists. Regional Rep for the North East, Dave Wigham took part in some TV interviews, and much of the information the TV crews were getting was from an online news story by the Newcastle Chronicle.

We encourage you to login and leave polite comments on the Chronicles news story so that they can see the level of feeling amongst riders and some of the potentially negative effects it could have on us:

Please login and comment ... politely, obviously.

7) Remembrance Sunday

Wakefield MAG will be attending en-masse the City of Wakefield Remembrance Sunday Memorial Service on Sunday 8th November. We have attended this service for more years now than we care to remember, to honour the fallen from our own area, in our own area. We will again be laying a Wakefield MAG wreath at the war memorial, that is already on order from the Royal British Legion. Following the Wakefield Service, we will be attending (at the invitation of the RBLR), the parade and service in nearby Mirfield - The role of the motorcyclists, is to lead the procession through Mirfield, with the marching bands, service personnel, cadets, veterans, and everyone else following on behind. The remembrance parade culminates in an afternoon service at Mirfield War Memorial. The Mirfield parade is billed as the largest outside London and usually gets covered in the BBC Look North News that evening.

We will remember them

Meet 10:50 (or earlier) at the Wood Street War Memorial in Wakefield for the City of Wakefield Remembrance Sunday Memorial Service. We will then be riding over to the Old Colonial pub in Mirfield, to meet up with the Royal British Legion Riders (RBLR) for the Mirfield parade and service. Hope you can attend both and let's have a big turnout of bikes to honour the fallen from all armed conflicts, and to show our respect.

8) Accident Management Services Talk - Wednesday 14th October

On Wednesday 14th October, we are having a guest speaker at our meeting. The speaker will cover the services offered by Motorcycle McAMS Accident Management Services. If you have been involved in a motorbike accident that wasn't your fault, you can engage McAMS and providing you have a case, their solicitors will do everything on your behalf - tell your own insurance company, liaise with the other parties insurance company and deliver a hire bike to your door, handle any compensation claim, arrange for having your old bike repaired (their repairer or one of your choice) or replaced, you won't even have to pay the excess as they will do it all for you. When you choose McAMS to handle your non-fault claim, you get to keep 100% of the compensation you are entitled to.

And the cost to you for all this ...... Nothing, as the liable parties insurance covers McAMS professional services.

It's a most interesting and entertaining talk, so hope to see you at the Wednesday 14th October meeting (starts at 20:30).

See the McAMS website for more details of their service: www.mc-ams.co.uk

10) 12th Annual Bikers Quiz Nite

Quiz Nite Poster

Now we are in Autumn, it's not actually that long to the most competitive event of the Yorkshire MAG year ... the hugely popular Wakefield MAG Bikers Quiz Nite !!!

The quiz will be held at 8:00pm on Wednesday 18th November 2015 at the Grey Horse, Kirkgate, Wakefield, WF1 4EJ.

We wont mess with a winning formula so it's the same tried and tested 60 questions, 30 of which will be motorcycle related and 30 will be general knowledge (but there will be a bike related link / theme somewhere, however tenuous). The quiz is hotly contested throughout Yorkshire and the prestigious roll of honour is:

Who will win in 2015 ? .... Leeds Again Probably !

Open to All. £1 entry fee p.p. Team (Max. 5) or individual entry. Great prizes for the winners (1st, 2nd & 3rd), plus booby prize for the least number of correct answers.
